The Washington County Arts Choir is now in its seventh year of operation as a performing arts organization and cultural addition to Washington County and surrounding areas. At the present time, the WCAC has sung for over 179,000 people, including Spring, Summer and Christmas concerts. The group has given guest performances for the traveling Vietnam Wall , the Washington Wild Things and has sung the national anthem for the Pittsburgh Pirates for many years. Other community event performances include singing at the Olde Fashioned Christmas celebration held at the Washington County Courthouse, singing with the Washington Symphony Orchestra and at several other venues throughout Washington County. The choir has been privileged to be accompanied by the River City Chamber Orchestra, as well as, outstanding pianists, John D’Amico and Gabriel D’Abruzzo. The choir has brought professional artists to its audiences including the jazz group Trio Bravo , the incomparable Joe Negri, New York City Opera Soprano Melaine Vaccari, Metropolitan Opera Baritone Sebastian Catana, and world renowned tenor Jonathan Boyd.
Arnold R. Brock, Artistic Director and Conductor
Arnold R. Brock,, Artistic Director and Conductor, was born and raised in Washington County and graduated from Trinity High School. Mr. Brock (Arnie) received his Education Specialist Certificate in Administration and Leadership, Master of Music Education Degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and his Bachelor of Music Degree from West Virginia University. Mr. Brock is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Honorary Fraternity.
Mr. Brock founded the Washington County Arts Choir in January, 2003. He is a former member of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh and the Bach Chamber Choir. He has had extensive mentoring from Dr. Brady Allred, who is considered to be one of the top choral directors in America. Mr. Brock continues to share his love of music with our community.
